A television report of an armed robbery in Clear Lake Saturday led to the arrest of two Newell, Iowa persons.  According to Clear Lake Assistant Police Chief Herb Garlock, witnesses to he armed robbery of the Pronto Station in Clear Lake came forward after seeing the 10 p.m. news on KIMT-TV, Channel 3.  The couple are suspects in six other armed robberies in the state.

Recent rains caused the lake level to rise another two inches to its new reading of -29.76” below the spillway.

The Clear Lake Community Schools has announced the new faculty for the 1990-91 school year:  Mike Reysack, Sandy Christ, Dave Peters, Gwen Schleif, Barbara Anderson, Kathryn Furleigh, Elaine Meyer, Patricia Weigel, Janet Boehnke and Colleen Clinton.

A special delegation of guests from Ventura - California that is, might get the chance to see first hand what life in Ventura, Iowa is like.  Mayor Bob Wolfram said he is hopeful that a group from what has become the North Iowa community’s sister city will come to the area to enjoy the Ventura Septemburfest event, Sept. 1.

Ron and Martha Andrews will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.  They were married at the First Christian Church, in Clarinda, Iowa, on Aug. 29, 1965….Mr. and Mrs. Robert Humberg will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.  Bob Humberg and Linda Luick were married Aug. 15, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church, in Clear Lake.

Kevin Lewerke, 19, of Clear Lake, took second place in the ten men’s division of the 1990 Quad States Bodybuilding Championships.

Replacing Terry Wells as head coach for the Ventura Vikings football team this year is Mark Kuehl.

Lion Tamers for the 1990 Clear Lake Football team include Kim Hayes, Mindy Day, Sara Wempen and Jess Jurgensen.
