Iris I. Ong

Iris Irene Ong, 96, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.  A private burial will take place at a later time.

Iris was born April 21, 1919, in Ventura, Iowa, the daughter of Leo and Ilo Kinsella.

She married Phil Ong on Oct. 30, 1945 in Topeka, Kan. and dedicated her life to her entire family. From working in the ammunitions factory during WWII to baking pies for everyone, she did it all with great pride. She traveled all 50 states, but was happiest at her home, full of love and laughter. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.

She is survived by her three children, Darrel Morehouse and Sue Brakke, of Clear Lake, Nick (Jane) Ong, of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Gayle Bieber; and niece, Cindy Fistler, of Ventura.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.      

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
