Sandy was born June 29, 1946, in Mason City, the daughter of Hollis and Violet (Erickson) Burke. She attended Clear Lake High School and Hamilton Business College, Mason City.  She worked at Mercy Hospital, in Mason City.  She later was employed at Curries manufacturing plant in Mason City for 18 years, until her early retirement in 2007.

Sandy married Duane Hepperly on June 17, 1967, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Clear Lake, and they had 48 memorable years together.

Sandy enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Elysian, Minn., where she loved to fish trying to out-fish her husband, which she normally did.  She also enjoyed going out on the pontoon, watching the eagles and going on nature trail walks where she saw many animals.  She had an overwhelming passion for animals.  Sandy had a green thumb for planting flowers and shrubs, making anything grow and look beautiful.  She loved horses, having many of her own.  She enjoyed going to the fairs, watching her two granddaughters compete in horse races activities, taking home many ribbons and prizes.  She also loved her two grandsons, playing family games, going to the parks and watching them ride their ATV in the park.

She and her sister, Karen, were very close, they enjoyed spending time together decorating their homes, going to antique stores, and taking many vacations together.

She had met a lot of nice friends over the years, in town and at the resort, having many gatherings, at  potlucks, dinners, suppers, and breakfast.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Duane Hepperly, Mason City; son, Brian (Brooke) Hepperly, Northwood, Iowa; daughter, Debbie (Mike) Jones, Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren, Brianna and Hailey Hepperly and Landon and Bryce Jones; her sister, Karen (Ron) Hintch, Hampton, Iowa; her brother, Bill (Anne) Burke, McGregor, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death, by her parents, Hollis and Violet Burke; two brothers, John and Larry Burke; sister, Pat Patrick; step-brother, Peter Nissan; and three nephews, Christian Burke, Timothy Burke and Scott Patrick.

She will be sadly missed.

Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
