Council to get CLEAR Project update Monday
The Clear Lake City Council will receive an update on the CLEAR Project at the next regular meeting of the Clear Lake City Council Monday, Nov. 2.
Representatives from the Association for the Preservation of Clear Lake (APCL) are slated to be on the agenda at the 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 Council meeting to give a CLEAR Project status report.
In June, CLEAR Project Coorindator Mary Jo Burkgren resigned her position. She was named to the job in March 2013 after long-time leader David Knoll stepped down to accept a position with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. The position has been funded equally by three entities: the City of Clear Lake, APCL and Hancock County Soil and Water Commission. The Hancock County office served as Burkgren’s manager. At the time of Burkgren’s departure, Deb Tesar, president of the APCL, said Hancock Soil and Water wants to remain involved in the CLEAR Project, but feels it does not have the resources to manage the position.
