Jill M. Deuel

Jill Maxine Deuel, 62, of Clear Lake, passed away, Nov. 21, 2015, at the Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th Street, Clear Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jill was born May 7, 1953, the daughter of Charles “Chuck” Daniel Davis and Catherine “Kate” A. Davis. She was a graduate of Clear Lake High School, Class of 1971. Jill married Rick L. Deuel on July 10, 1971 and followed him for 20 years while he served in the U.S. Army. When they reached their final military destination at Ft. Polk, La., Jill enrolled in Northwestern State University of Louisiana, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting graduating in December of 1991. In April of 1992, she started a long career with the Air Force Audit Agency as an auditor at Luke Air Force Base, Az. While there, Jill started working on her Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Arizona State University and later finishing it through the University of Michigan. She also received a Master’s Degree from the Air War College in 2003.

Jill had many titles added to her name while with the AFAA. She was a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Defense Financial Manager. She rose through the ranks of a base level auditor, to audit manager, program manager and finally her final position of office chief. Due to the work she did, Jill was awarded the Auditor General Eagle Award and the Auditor General Unsung Hero award in 2008. These are all titles and awards that she was very proud of.

Jill loved antiques and found many to add to the home that she made with Rick. Most of all her greatest love and joy was spending time with her family and being the best wife, mother and grandmother that she could.  This was shown with all the pictures of her family and grandchildren that she proudly displayed in her work and home office.

Those left to cherish her memory and unforgettable love are her husband, Rick Deuel, of Clear Lake; daughter, Stacie Peavy and her husband, David, of DeRidder, La.; son, Chad Deuel and his wife, Charlotte, of Mustang, Okla.; and son, Cody Deuel, of Cheyenne, Wy. She has also left behind her sisters, Sandra Cesar, of Clear Lake, and Joni Wagner and her husband, Richard, of Kingman, Az.; and a brother, Scott Davis and his wife, Rene, of Forest City, Iowa. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Katlyn Morrow and her husband, Cameron, Kaylee Peavy, Trevor and Zachary Deuel, Ryhan Deuel, Ember Carpenter and Violet Deuel; and one great-grandson, Brodie Morrow.

Jill is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Catherine Davis; and brother, Michael “Mickey” Davis.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
