Police ask public for help identifying man suspected of crime

Police in Clear Lake are asking the public’s help identifying a man pictured in surveillance footage from a city store.
The man captured on video is suspected of writing counterfeit checks multiple times at a Clear Lake business on Christmas week, according to the CLPD. Police released still photos taken from the footage on the department’s Facebook Page on Sunday, Jan. 3. The Facebook post also included photos of three others and an older red Chevrolet pickup with wooden sides above the bed.
Only the man is suspected of theft. He allegedly wrote more than $500 in counterfeit checks on multiple visits to the same business.
The name of the business was not released.
