Two Cardinals claim top honors

Two Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestlers claimed championship honors on Saturday, Feb. 6, in Class 2A Sectional action in Garner.  Clarion-Goldfield won the tournament 256 points.

Conner Shaw and Cade Baker finished at the top of the podium.

Shaw, who wrestlers at 170-pounds, won by major decision over Caleb Olson, of Webster City, 15-4.

Baker pinned Humboldt’s Nate Kollmorgen in :24 to earn the top spot at 182-pounds.

Jace Pringnitz, at 120-pounds, placed third for the Cardinals.  He was beat in the second place match by Carson Hartnett, 30-11.
