Rosemary L. Yohn
Rosemary “Rosie” L. Yohn, 65, of Clear Lake, died Friday, May 27, 2016 at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church. In lieu of memorials, the family suggests a donation to one of Rosie’s favorite charities: North Iowa Humane Society, Clear Lake Arts Center, Opportunity Village, Clear Lake’s Fireworks Fund, or a charity of your choice in her name.
Rosemary was born April 22, 1951, in Hayes, Kan. the daughter of Elmer John and LaVone Lucille (Anderson) Schumacher. She graduated from Hayden High School, Topeka, Kan. She attended and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stormont Vail School of Nursing with her RN degree. She later received her BSN degree from the University of Dubuque, in Dubuque, Iowa. She was employed as an RN at North Iowa Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa for 10 years.
She married Bill Yohn on Aug. 10, 1974 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garner, Iowa.
Rosemary enjoyed traveling, running, cross country skiing, volunteering, gardening, and she was active in and supportive of the arts in North Iowa. Her family was the center of her life and she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. One of Rosie’s favorite places was her condo on Clear Lake, where she enjoyed kayaking, boating, watching fireworks and the changing weather over the lake. As in life, Rosie embraced the sunsets as well as the storms.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Yohn, Clear Lake; four children, Angela (Don) Warneke, Hampton, Iowa, Jennifer (Todd) Juhlin, Iowa City, Iowa, Laura Yohn (Matt Frazier, fiancé) and Alex Yohn, Clear Lake; seven grandchildren, Denelle Warneke, Anthony Piscopo, Nick Piscopo, Chase Johnson, William Warneke, Brenna Coe and Jackson Frazier; and her six siblings, Daniel (Pat) Schumacher, Narragansett, R.I., Carol (Virginia Wolf) Schumacher, Eau Claire, Wis., Peter (Janet) Schumacher, Topeka, Richard (Mary) Schumacher, Topeka, Liz (Atef) Khalil, Topeka, and Tina (Nick) Kresic, Tampa, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Steve Schumacher.
Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
