Jack R. Stunkard
Jack Richard Stunkard, 76, of Arvada, Colo., died peacefully on June 24, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Jack was interred with the military honors at the Golden Cemetery on Saturday, July 9.
Jack was born March 6, 1940, in Clear Lake, to parents Lyle G. and Louise B. (Jacobson) Stunkard and was their second son. His parents owned the Snow White Market in Clear Lake from the mid 1930s to the mid 1960s.
Jack was an Eagle Scout, an athlete, and a member of the Men’s chorus at Clear Lake High School. In 1961, he graduated with honors from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration where he was a leader in the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Jack served in the U.S. Army and was an awarded marksman. In 1965, Jack moved from Iowa to Golden, Colo., when he was hired by the Adolph Coors Brewing Company, retiring 28 years later with accolades from Bill Coors in 1992.
Jack was a man of faith who loved his family and was an active leader in the community. He had a passion for the outdoors including gardening, hiking, golfing, skiing, pheasant hunting, and coaching his daughter’s soccer teams.
Both parents, his brother, Lyle R. Stunkard and his youngest daughter, Jennifer (Damion) Simcox preceded him in death.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Myrna (Pushor) O’Brien; his son, Steven Jon; and two daughters, Amy (Drew) Poston and Katy Stunkard Burley; five grandsons; and seven nieces and nephews.
