Semi destroyed in I-35 blaze

The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a semi truck on Fire Wednesday, Oct. 26, at approximately 7 a.m.  The semi was located on the Interstate 35, south-bound Exit 190.  “We made a quick attack on the fire, having it under control in about five-minutes,” explained Josh Pokorney, public information officer for the CLFD.  Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45-minutes, making sure all the hot spots were extinguished.  The semi was a total loss.  The CLFD responded with two pumper trucks and one command vehicle with nine firefighters.  The semi cab was fully involved with fire upon arrival.   The southbound Exit 190 was closed for approximately 45-minutes while the fire was extinguished.  The CLFD was assisted on scene by the Iowa State Patrol.
