Jeffrey A. Floy
Jeffery “Jeff” Allen Floy, 57, of Northwood, Iowa, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at his home. His final days were spent with family, friends, and pets.
At his request, no service will be held.
Jeffery Allen Floy was born on June 22, 1959, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Marlowe and Donna (Cox) Floy. He attended school in Clear Lake, and received his GED while in the Navy.
He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on Aug. 30, 1976, assigned to the USS Sacramento Battle Ship, serving his country honorably and faithfully until his honorable discharge on Sept. 23, 1980.
He was united in marriage to Sherrie Stricker on Feb. 7, 1987, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Jeff worked at Field Stone Cabinetry in Northwood, moved to Florida where he and his wife, Sherrie, had their lawn care business. Jeff and Sherrie moved to North Carolina, where they loved their cabin and hiking. This will be Jeff’s final resting place. Jeff was an excellent finishing carpenter, and continued doing finishing carpentry work until moving to Northwood.
Jeff loved to fish, hike, and visit with his many family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherrie Floy, of Northwood; his mother, Donna Pierce; brothers, Michael (Carrie) Floy, Clear Lake, and Doug Floy of Phoenix, Az.; sister, Terri Gardner, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; mother-in-law, Zorka Stricker, of Northwood; brothers-in-law, Nick (Barbie) Stricker of Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Ronnie (Vicki) Stricker, of Northwood; two sisters-in-law, Caroline (Steve) Chodur, Northwood, Katie (Tim) Barber, of Waterloo, Iowa; two aunts, Ida and Shirley Floy; several nieces, nephews; and special friends, Barbara and Al Dobson, of Northwood, Pam and Donny Anderson, of Northwood, and Chris and Katy Duncom, of Northwood.
Jeffery was preceded in death by his father, Marlowe Floy; his step-father, Robert Pierce; and his father-in-law, Ronald Stricker.
Conner Colonial Chapel, 1008 First Ave. South, Northwood, is in charge of the arrangements.
