Woman arrested after pinning man to building with vehicle, leaving

A Clear Lake woman was charged with operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash after she allegedly pinned a man to a building with her vehicle.

On April 7, at 3:43 a.m., Clear Lake police officers were dispatched to a personal injury crash in the 700 block of Buddy Holly Place. During the investigation, officers learned that the alleged driver, Jennifer Mark, 28, pinned a male against a building with her 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Mark left the scene and was located in the area a short time later. After failing field sobriety tests, Mark was arrested for OWI (first offense) and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash.

According to Police Chief Pete Roth, Mark and the victim know each other. There was a reported argument between the two prior to the crash. Mark reversed her Jeep to leave the area. The victim attempted to climb inside the Grand Cherokee while it was moving backwards. The vehicle struck a building, pinning him against it.

The victim was transported to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa with serious injuries that do not appear to be life threatening.

Mark was transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. She reported no injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.

Officers were assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office and the Clear Lake Fire Department.
