CL girls track team competes at Mohawk Invite and NCC meet

After missing three previous meets due to weather, the Clear Lake girls were ready to run at the Mohawk Invite Tuesday, May 2.  Lions recorded two wins and five personal best performances at the meet.

Coach Shawn Puttmann said the meet was a great way to head into conference competition later in the week.

Makia Fessler earned a win in the 100 meter hurdles in a personal best of 17.34.  Fessler was also a member of the winning shuttle hurdle relay team which crossed the finish line in 1:12.34.  Other members of the relay included Olivia Amos, Bella Parker and Ashley Archer.

Macy Mixdorf used a personal best to finish second in the 200 in 28.11.  Mixdorf also helped the 4x200 team with Archer, Sharrell Lee and Gabriela Gonzalez to place second in a season best 1:56.16.

Amos had the fifth personal best for the Lions.  She was fifth in the 100 hurdles in 18.07.

•100: Halie Westendorf, sixth, 14.26

•3000: Alena Gabrielson, fifth, 13:22.48

•400 hurdles: Tali Tesar, sixth, 1:27.19

•4x100: Kaylee Nosbisch, Gonzalez, Archer, Westendorf, fifth, 56.72

•4x400: Parker, Lee, Mixdorf, Riley Clooney, fifth, 4:52.60

•Sprint Medley: Nosbisch, Gonzalez, Mixdorf, Riley, sixth, 2:08.84

•Distance Medley: Amos, Nosbisch, Tesar, Cooney, 5:24.06

•Long jump: Archer, sixth, 14’6”

The Lions participated in a limited number of junior varsity events at Mason City.  Tali Tesar led the Lions with a runner-up finish in the 100 hurdles in a time of 18.64.  Sharrell Lee was third in the 100 dash in 14.05, while
