Snow much fun!
It was a record year for the annual Jack Helgren Memorial Race Saturday on Clear Lake. Gary McVicker, a member of the organizing committee, said the only thing that could have made the day better would have been more snow so that snowmobile enthusiasts could have ridden their sleds to the event. Participation was high at the 2018 event, with 205 entries in LeMans races, and 68 in the radar run. Competitor Aaron Casler, of Grimes, Iowa was just one mph. shy of tying a national speed record. He reached 146 mph covering 500-feet on his 2015 Arctic Cat Black Mamba.
