A garage fire which did more than $25,000 damage Saturday is still under investigation.

The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a garage structure located at 204 10th Ave. S., shortly before 9:55 a.m. Saturday. The garages are associated with the Outing Club on South Shore Drive. The detached garage and its contents were declared a total loss.

Davin McLeod, public information officer for the CLFD reported 21 firefighters and two medics responded to the scene.  The Ventura Fire Department was dispatched for mutual aide and they responded with one engine company.

The Clear Lake Police Department was the first on the scene and confirmed it was a working structure fire with a garage showing smoke and flames.  Windy winter weather also presented challenges to emergency response teams.

Firefighters made entry through the garage door and were able to make initial knock down of the fire.

“We spent the next few hours performing overhaul and making sure all of the hot spots were out,” said McLeod.

The garage contents were a total loss.

No one was injured.

The Clear Lake Fire Department was also assisted on scene by Alliant Energy.
