Terry Jordan

Terry Jordan, of Iowa City, died April 25, 2018.

Terry was the daughter of Raymond (Swede) and Leona Mae (Willcoxon) Bergvig. She was born Aug. 7, 1948, in Lincoln.  At age four, the family moved from Lincoln to Cherokee, Iowa. Terry graduated from Washington High School, Cherokee, in 1968. She was active in choir, debate, pep club, and National Honor Society. She enrolled at Iowa State University to major in Animal Science, but left to join the Marine Corp after one year.

During her four years in the Marines, she was stationed in San Diego, Calif., where she was put in charge of the flight simulator to train both Marine and Air Force pilots. She then returned to Iowa State and finished her studies with a degree in psychology. While on campus she worked as a recruiter both for the Marines and ISU. She visited high school students in a five state area.

Upon graduation from ISU in 1974, she was offered a position with the Veteran’s Administration.  After postings in Des Moines and Waterloo she transferred to Iowa City where she worked as a Medical Administrative Specialist until her retirement in 2003. She continued to reside in Iowa City until her death.

Her first love was her cats, followed by collecting elephants, and reading.

Terry is survived by her sister, Cheryl Bergvig, Clear Lake; special friend, Eric; an uncle; two aunts; and many cousins; as well as her cats, Roxie, Serena, and Molly.

Terry has joined her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and numerous feline friends in heaven.

Gay & Ciha Funeral and Creamation Service, Iowa City, was in charge of arrangements.
