Harold Hokel

     Harold Hokel, 88, of Webster City, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, Oct. 8,  at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Mike Kroona, officiating.        

Harold George Hokel, son of Leonard and Anna Thiele Hokel, was born Oct. 29, 1929, at Toledo. He graduated from Marshalltown High School.  He served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He married Joann Steege on March 7, 1954 in Clear Lake.  Harold worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years and American Family Insurance for 25 years.  Joann preceded him in death in 2004.

He is survived by his sons, Karl Hokel, of Webster City, Kyle (Nancy Matthews) Hokel, of Sheboygan Falls, Wis., Kurt Hokel, of Ottawa, Kan.; grandchildren, Megan (Josh) Smith and Tiffanee Hokel and her mother, Vicki Hokel; great-grandchildren, Joy, Eliana and James; sister, Charlotte “Hoke” Farr, of Marshalltown; sister-in-law, Alice Nielsen, of Clear Lake; and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann; brother-in-law, Jack Farr; nephew, Tom Farr; and niece, Nancy Whaley.

     Harold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 191.
