CLHS Dance Team does well at State competition

The Clear Lake High School Dance Team participated in the Iowa State Dance Competition in Des Moines on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 29 and 30.
The team brought brought home two State Championship titles. The first was in Class IX Pom. The fireman themed pom routine was choreographed by Richelle Morrissey with music by Michelle Barlas. This was the team’s fourth year in a row bringing home the title in pom.
The team also brought home the State Championship in Class IV Jazz. The salsa themed jazz routine was choreographed by Katie Stoltman. The routine also won an elite Judges Choices Award.
They placed fourth in Class V Hip Hop with an astronaut themed routine by Michelle Barlas.
Finally, the team was recognized for Academic Excellence.
“We are extremely excited by the results of state competition,” said Coach Liz LeFevre. “The team has worked extremely hard on these routines since learning them in August. They danced all three routines the best that I have ever seen. All three classes that we were entered in were extremely talented and we knew to walk away State Champions the team had to perform flawless routines.”
