CL girls claim some gold medals at Charles City Invitational

The Clear Lake girls track team had a couple of medal winners at the Charles City Invitational held Thursday, April 22.  Emily McLaughlin outdistanced the competition in the 300 meters to claim the gold medal in a time of 12:45.0.  Payton McGrath was also a medal winner, placing third in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:22.25.  Anna Feuerbach finished fourth in the 800 meters in 2:48.57.

In field events,  Alana Moody was fourth in the discus with a toss of 81’6” and sixth in shot put with a mark of 26’11”.

•Long jump: Grace Myers, 6th, 13’4.25”

•Sprint Medley: Myers, Makella Jacobs, Ava Richtsmeier, Feuerbach, 4th, 2:13.59

•3000: Jadyn Heesch, 5th, 14:25.95

•Shuttle hurdle: Myers, McGrath, Feuerbach, Mariposa Coleman, 4th, 1:25.01

•Distance medley: Jacobs, Richtsmeier, Feuerbach, McLaughlin, 4th, 5:26.87

•100 hurdles, Myers, 6th, 20.27

•1500: McLaughlin, 6th, 6:12.30

•4x100: Maycee Mariarty, Jacobs, Richtsmeier, Kylee Leewright, 5th, 1:00.59

•4x400: Mariarty, Leewright, McGrath, Alexis Hauge, 5th, 5:28.91

Lynx Invite

The Clear Lake girls track team was in Webster City Thursday, April 22, to compete in the Lynx Invite.  Alana Moody had a good night for the Lions, recording a personal best in the discus and placing fourth with a mark of 81’5” and finishing sixth in the shot put with a toss of 28’.5”.  

Field events were a strong suit for the Lions, as Makella Jacobs jumped a personal best of 13’5” to finish ninth in the long jump.  Teammate Grace Myers was 10th at 13’2”.  Peyton McGrath placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 4’4”. 

McGrath was also eighth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:28.30.  Emily McLaughlin earned team points with her fourth place finish in the 3000 meter run.  She was clocked in 12:06.10.

The Distance Medley Relay with Jacobs, Ava Richtsmeier, Anna Feuerbach and McLaughlin finished fifth in 5:18.79.  The 4x100 shuttle hurdle team was also fifth, with Myers, McGrath, Feuerbach and Mariposa Coleman crossing the finish line in 1:26.18.

As a team, the Lions were eighth with 15 points.  

Junior varsity

Maycee Mariarty finished fifth in the JV long jump competition with a leap of 11’6” and Mariposa Coleman was sixth in the JV 100 hurdles in a time of 21.55.
