Soccer girls top Humboldt
The opening whistle blew Monday night at Humboldt and 13-seconds later Darby Dodd had the Lions up, 1-0. Dodd came away with her second hat trick of the season, leading the lions to a 3-0 win over the wildcats.
Coach Jennings said his team played well and noted Emily Theiss had some good minuets for the team after coming off an injury.
“She’s new to the game, but sees the field really well. We had lots of opportunities but struggled to capitalize on them,” said Jennings.
Clear Lake’s junior varsity team also played at Humboldt. The Wildcats caught the Lions early for a goal and the single score stood up for a final 1-0 score.
“The game was a battle,” said Coach Jennings. “We have some good talent at this level. We also have lots of kids who are learning the sport which is exciting for the program. We had really good defensive play from freshman Xada Johnson. She sees the field well and gets her self into position to make a play on the ball. Annika Nelson also played well for the Lions.”
