Girls golf opens season with a win
by Marianne Gasaway
Clear Lake played Mason City High School and New Hampton on Monday night, April 11, for their first meet of the year. The Lions finished with a 185 to win the meet by three strokes over New Hampton.
Meghan DeLong was the medalist with a 42. Her sister, Becca, finished in third place with a 44. The last two counting scores for Clear Lake were Jaden Ainley, 49, and Lily James with a 50.
“I think everyone agreed after the round that it wasn’t the day they were hoping for,” said Head Coach Colby Andrews. “The weather was pretty good, but unfortunately this spring hasn’t been too cooperative. We had a total of three practices outside before this meet. I am confident with a little more time outside and a few more meets next week, we will be a lot happier with scores and play.”
