Baseball team falls to Mason City in early season game
Mason City topped Clear Lake in an early season baseball game played Tuesday, May 17. The River Hawks plated four runs in the bottom of the first and went on to win, 10-0 in six innings.
The Lions, playing without several regulars who are still competing on the golf course and track, managed just one hit against starter Ethen Roberts. Roberts threw four innings of scoreless ball with nine strikeouts.
Lion starter Jett Neuberger gave up eight runs, four earned, on seven hits. He struck out seven and walked four.
Andrew Theiss faced seven batters in one and one and two-thirds innings. He struck out three and walked two.
Wesley Wharton had Clear Lake’s only hit in the game, a single.
The River Hawks scored their 10 runs on nine hits and were helped by three Lion errors.
