Barbara Bergman

Barbara Jane Bergman, 90, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2025, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 First Ave. North, Clear Lake; with Mark Doebel officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service at the funeral home. An Inurnment will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 at the Clear Lake Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family.

Barbara Jane was born on November 30, 1934, in Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Henrietta (Pals) Ostendorf. She graduated from Ventura High School in 1953.

While working at the roller rink, Barbara met Billy Bergman. They were united in marriage and blessed with five children. Barbara devoted herself to raising her family with kindness and strength. She took great joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Barbara’s life led her to a career at the Clear Lake Bakery, where she worked for 20 years. She cherished her community in Clear Lake, where she found joy in the simple pleasures of life —whether it was playing Cribbage, 500, or Hearts with friends or participating in local activities. She was known for her warm heart, her quiet strength, and the way she made everyone around her feel valued and loved.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Eddie Bergman, Kevin (Tonya) Bergman, Terry (Connie) Bergman; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Fredrickson; sister-in-law, Shirley Ostendorf; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Henrietta; husband, Billy Bergman; son, Billy Jr. “Shorty” Bergman; daughter, Janie Bergman; sister, Bonnie Williamson; brothers, Verlynn

“Ole” Ostendorf and Ron Ostendorf.

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
