Woman accused of felony theft from Clear Lake auto dealer

Clear Lake police have charged a Mason City woman with First Degree Theft, a Class C, Felony and Forgery, a Class D Felony, in the wake of a seven month investigation into her actions while employed at Lake Chevrolet.

Amy Monahan, 42, was arrested and taken to Cerro Gordo County Jail Friday, Oct. 28, on the theft and forgery charges, as well as Ongoing Criminal Conduct, a Class B Felony.

Water, sewer rates will double in Ventura

The City of Ventura will be increasing its water/sewer rates and moving to a monthly billing cycle in January 2017.

The Ventura City Council approved the third and final reading of an ordinance setting new rates at its Monday, Oct. 24, meeting.  Under the new fee structure the cost of the service will almost double for customers and billing will occur monthly, rather than every two months.

Council members concluded the rate change is necessary to afford necessary repairs and upgrades to its system.

This is a record freeze.  Previously, the earliest lake freeze was Nov. 12, in 1940.
