Cardinals oust the Bulldogs, 33-13

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals (2-0) played tough football Friday night, capitalizing on key moments to oust the Algona Bulldogs (0-2) 33-13 in non-district play.

It was a week of ups and downs for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team, as they dropped a hard fought match, but came back and won the next one.

The Cardinals gave it their all on Tuesday, Aug. 30, before they fell in five games to Forest City.

Mark Wayne Wilson, 64, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, in Mason City.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, in Clear Lake.  Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Mark Wilson Memorial Fund.

Mark was born July 30, 1952, the son of Henry and Annie (Oudekerk) Wilson, in Forest City, Iowa.

Lois Muriel Fulghum, 93, of Clear Lake, Iowa, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, Iowa.

Celebration of Lois’ life was held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Clear Lake Christian Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Drew Ritjens officiating. Burial was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.   

Family suggests memorials to Lois Fulghum memorial fund.

Lois was born May 18, 1923, to Harry and Violet (Clark) Hubbard in Chippewa Falls, Wis.
