Leonard Arlon Pals, 82, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016, at the First Reformed Church, Meservey, Iowa, with Pastor Rodney Meester officiating.  Burial was in Meservey Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Leonard Pals Memorial Fund.

Celebration of Lois’ life was held on Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Clear Lake Christian Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Drew Ritjens officiating. Burial was in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Joint investigation of burglaries leads to arrest of MC man

A Mason City man has been arrested on charges stemming from an ongoing joint investigation with several agencies including the Clear Lake Police Department.

During the joint investigation, Johnny Lee Baugh, 52, became a person of interest in several burglaries committed in Clear Lake and the surrounding area from January through September 2016.

The Clear Lake Police Department filed four counts of Third Degree Burglary, a class D Felony, and one count of Ongoing Criminal Conduct, a class B Felony.

‘Goats on the Go’ make McIntosh Woods State Park their new home away from home

Just as the camping season is slowing down at McIntosh Woods State Park, 48 new visitors arrived Monday.

“Goats on the Go,” as they are known, have taken up residence at the camp for the next six weeks.  They will be contained in one to two-acre areas where invasion species are choking out native plants.

Zion Lutheran Church to hold first worship service in newly renovated facility
