Lions earn plenty of post season honors

Clear Lake well represented on All-North Central Conference and All-District teams

 

    The outstanding season the Clear Lake baseball team enjoyed has been rewarded with a wealth of post-season honors.  Lions were well represented on both the All-North Central Conference and All-District Teams.

Lions roll over Eagles in season opener

    The Clear Lake boys dominated Eagle Grove in their season opener, played Friday, Dec. 2, at home.  The Lions were 58-22 winners.

Toppin competes at State Cross Country Meet

  Two cross country runners from the boy’s Garner-Hayfield/Ventura/West Hancock team competed in the State Cross Country Meet held on Saturday, Oct. 29, in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

    Joel Toppin ran one of his best meets of the season by finishing in 29th place with a time of 16:36.  Brad Nedved finished in 57th place with a time of 17:00.
    “Joel ran a great race down at State,” said G-H/V/WH Coach Jeff Short.  “I am looking forward to having both Brad and Joel lead the team next year down to the State Meet.”

It was a week of highs and lows for the Ventura volleyball team, picking up one win and one loss.

CL cross country teams encounter some tough competition

Clear Lake cross country teams competed at Humboldt, Monday, Sept. 19 and at Mason City on Thursday, Sept. 22. 

Girls sweep Eagle Grove

   The Clear Lake volleyball team opened its season with a full slate of matches last week. 
    Tuesday, the Lions hosted North Butler and Central Springs.  Although they captured games, the Lions were 0-2 in match play.  Thursday, Clear Lake bounced back with vengeance and swept Eagle Grove 3-0.

Tarr signs to play golf for NIACC

    Brent Tarr, a state golf champion in his senior season at Clear Lake High School, will take his game to the next level as a member of the North Iowa Area Community College golf team.

CL girls pick up first win of the season

    The Clear Lake girls picked up their first win of the season, treating the home crowd to a 57-33 win over Eagle Grove Friday, Dec. 2.  The team readied for the game with a tough outing against North Central Conference power Algona on Tuesday, Nov. 29.  The Bulldogs topped the Lions, 51-31.
