Hannover Relays
    The Lions were at Algona Tuesday, April 10, to compete in the Hannover Relays.  Some good performances were recorded against a tough field of competitors.
    Clear Lake’s Distance Medley relay with Peyton Huey, Caitlin Harle, Brittany Bieber and Trudy Peterson gave the Lions a win in 4:42.66.  Peterson also earned a second

Four Lions open track season at Dickinson Relays

A few members of the Clear Lake boys track team got an early start on the season by participating in the Dickinson Relays held March 19 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.  

Knights end the season for Lady Vikes

 A tough first quarter doomed the Lady Vikes in the second round of Class 1A District basketball action on Tuesday, Feb. 14.  They fell to Newman Catholic, 52-41.
    “Newman came out in the first quarter and hit everything,” said Coach Rod Huber.  “I thought we outplayed them the rest of the way, but the first quarter put us into too big of a hole.”

Lions top Algona in NCC battle

In a game filled with a little bit of everything-- including a crowd-pleasing trick shot which happened by accident, the Lions evened their record in the North Central Conference with a 58-50 win over Algona Tuesday, Jan. 17.

Alumni Tournament

All Clear Lake High School alumni were invited to participate in the Alumni Basketball Tournament held on Friday, Dec. 23.  The Class of 2005/06 won the tournament, beating the class of 2008 in the final match.  Members of the 2005/06 team

Haugen signs with NIACC

 

Clear Lake High School senior Brianna Haugen has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball for Coach Chris Brandt at North Iowa Area Community College in the fall.  Coach Brandt said she is excited to have “a wicked left-hander” on her roster in the fall.  

G-H/V girls pick up two more wins

 

Three games in one week made for a long stretch of basketball for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura girls.  The team picked up two road wins and dropped a home contest.

 

West Hancock 56, G-H/V 42

Tuesday night’s matchup with West Hancock showed the G-H/V girls the importance of playing a full 32 minutes.  Despite playing a great first quarter, the Cardinals let up the intensity in the remaining three, dropping the game, 56-42.

Forfeits doom Cardinals in home wrestling meet

 

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura wrestling team hosted Belmond-Klemme and Northwood-Kensett on Tuesday, Dec. 18.

 

Due to a high number of forfeits, seven against N-K and six against B-K, the Cardinals had a hard time competing, dropping both matches.  G-H/V lost to Northwood, 60-18 and to Belmond-Klemme, 42-27.
