Nutcracker ballet showcases local talent

Four Clear Lake youngsters have seized the opportunity to take the stage with members of the Minnesota Ballet to present the Nutcracker Saturday, Dec. 7, on the North Iowa Community Auditorium stage.

Savannah Williams and Sky Toyne are best friends who will be playing best friends in the show.  The 11-year-olds have been cast in the production as dancers.  Savannah will be playing young Clara, while Sky will perform in the large party 

Sidewalk projects a priority for City Council

On a 4-1 vote the Clear Lake City Council agreed to hire Veenstra & Kimm Engineering of Mason City, at a cost of $32,500, to prepare a strategic plan to evaluate and prioritize sidewalk projects in Clear Lake.  

The one dissenting vote came from councilman Jim Boehnke who said he felt the city had enough capable people to do the plan "in house."

Chamber re-ignites fireworks campaign to push toward goal

 The Clear Lake Area Chamber announced that it is “re-IGNITING” the IGNITE Clear Lake campaign this summer to shore up its final support and close out the campaign to endow the fireworks for Clear Lake.
 The Clear Lake Area Chamber established an endowment account for the fireworks fund with the Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.

 Larry Jacobson, who took over ownership of Jacobson Electric in 1994 after the retirement of his father, Warren, said he has sold the business to David Poppy.
