Police Department hiring

Police Lieutenant Paul Chizek  reported to the Council that the department has begun advertising to hire another police officer.  The deadline for applications is Jan. 25.

Equipment purchase OK’d

The Council approved the purchase of a new front-end loader-mounted rotary snowblower for its Public Works Deparment.  Road Use Tax revenues will fund the $160,000 purchase.

Public Works Director Joe Weigel told the Council the city’s newest front-end loader-mounted snow blower was purchased in 2001 and has approximately 527 hours on it.

Property valuations are up

In other business Monday, City Administrator Scott Flory said he has received notification that city property valuations are up 4.5 percent.  That will translate to roughly $19 million for the city’s budget.  The number is consistent with trends in recent years.

The valuations will form the basis for the city’s 2016 fiscal year budget.

Flory also said City Hall renovations are nearing completion and should be completed this month.  An open house will be scheduled at a later date to showcase the project.
