Boys soccer team falls in Sub-State Semi-Finals

North Fayette Valley, ranked second in the state (1A), escaped with a 2-1 victory in Sub-State semi-finals played Monday, May 23, in Elgin.

“It was a tough matchup against the number one team in our bracket and number two team in the state,” said Clear Lake Coach Zach Hall.  “We looked to come out strong and aggressive trying to neutralize their key players.”

Bunn to compete in Special Olympics Games

The Bunn family, from Clear Lake, will be proudly cheering on 16-year-old Adrienne Bunn next week as she competes in the Special Olympics USA Games as a triathlete.  The event will be held in Orlando, Fla. June 5-12.

Adrienne, the daughter of Bob and June Bunn, formerly of Clear Lake and now residents of Ocala, Fla., is the first woman on the autistic spectrum to compete in the triathlon at the Games.

Iowa lawmakers ended the 2022 legislative session early Wednesday, May 25, with action on some familiar topics: school choice and election law.

The Iowa Senate adjourned for the year at 12:11 a.m. and the House followed at 12:17 a.m. Before they went home, Republicans in the Iowa House and Senate voted to eliminate a deadline for open enrollment, over the objections of Democrats who said the move would throw school district budgets into chaos.
