Girls golf team records best score of the year

The Clear Lake girls had final tune-up round before Regionals, competing Monday, May 16, at the Ballard Country Club.   The six-team tournament included ADM, Ballard, Clear Lake, Bondurant, Indianola and North Polk. Clear Lake came out victorious with its best team score of the year, 327. Indianola came in second place with a 386. 

The Lions had five of the top eight individuals, who all medaled.

Lothar Meyer, 71, of Clear Lake passed away Sept. 3, 2021 at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City..

A celebration of Lothar’s life will be held on June 4 at 10 a.m. at PM Park, 15297 Raney Drive, Clear Lake.

Lothar will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery in Charles City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coe College Meyer Wildernes Field Station (WFS) Endowment or the Clear Lake Evening Lions.

A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held on Saturday, June 11, for family and friends at the Prime and Wine in Mason City starting with a social gathering at 5 p.m., to be followed by a service and dinner.

Alan Marken, of Clear Lake, passed away on May, 23, 2022. 

There will be a party at a local park in Clear Lake, date to be determined. Al’s body has been sent to the University of Iowa’s College of Medicine for research.
