There are no contested races in the Clear Lake City Council election or the race for mayor.  Bennett Smith has served four years as the Second Ward City Councilman.  Dana Brant has served eight years on the City Council, four years for Ward One and four years as an At-Large Council representative.  Nelson Crabb is running for his fifth term as mayor.  He was first elected to the position in 2006.

Dwight Eugene Williamson, 85, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City.

Per Dwight’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at the Ventura Community Center; 4 Weimer St., Ventura.

Dwight’s family suggests memorial contributions to Central Gardens of North Iowa, in Clear Lake, the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital, in Iowa City or Redeemer Lutheran Church, in Ventura.

Matt Baumann died suddenly at the age of 50 on Oct. 16, 2021, after having been diagnosed with a heart condition. 

He loved to host get-togethers in the home he made with Teresa (Schlichting) Baumann. Since their wedding day in Clear Lake, they strived to live a faith-filled life together for 24 years. Matt asked Teresa to marry him in the most romantic of ways—on a frost covered bluff overlooking the Coralville Reservoir on Leap Year Day 1996.

The Clear Lake cross country team dominated at the North Central Conference Championships held on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at Oakridge Golf Course, in Goldfield.  Both the varsity and JV boys teams came out on top, winning team titles.  The girls barely missed championship honors, but Addison Doughan came away with the individual title.
