Re-connected classmates work to turn tragedy into hope

The Waldron family knows first hand how one tragic event can upend your life and put you on a whole different journey.  But through their faith, their love for one another and special friends that have stepped in to help, they have learned there is hope at the end of long, dark tunnels.

Gary Lyle Edwards, age 80, of Rogers, Ark., passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, at Northwest Medical Center, in Bentonville, Ark. 

No services are scheduled at this time. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the 1st United Methodist Church playground fund and the Rogers Humane Society. 

He was born Feb. 25,1941, in Mason City, Iowa, to Lyle and Florence “Pat” French Edwards.

Dick Morris, 86, of Waukee, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, died on May 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospice House, in Johnston, Iowa.

A Celebration Of Life Event will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:45 until event time on Saturday afternoon. Masks are encouraged for the unvaccinated.

   Memorials may be made in his honor to the music department of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Wayne Eugene Vandervort, 96, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home, in Rockwell.

Funeral services were held on Monday, July 26, 2021, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Al Berge officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, in Dows, Iowa.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
