Carson Krefft to play in Iowa Shrine Bowl July 24

Clear Lake High School’s Carson Krefft will compete in the 49th Iowa Shrine Bowl to be played on Saturday, July 24, at the UNI Dome, in Cedar Falls.

The Iowa Shrine Bowl Game is an all-star football game between selected pre-college football athletes on each side of a north-south dividing line in Iowa.

The players are selected by a process of nomination by coaches, balloting by state-wide sports media professionals, and official invitation from a representative of the Iowa Shrine Bowl.

Richard “Dick” Grant Morris, 86, of Waukee, Iowa, formerly of Clear Lake, died on May 12, 2021, at Mercy Hospice House, in Johnston, Iowa.

A Celebration Of Life event will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to the music department of the Clear Lake United Methodist Church.

Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara J. Dwyer, 89, of Clear Lake, was on in-home hospice when she entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 19, 2021, surrounded by family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Dean Hess officiating. Inurnment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 23, at the funeral home in Clear Lake.

The new community wellness center is taking shape in anticipation of a December 2021 opening.

Monday night the Clear Lake City Council received a building update and watched a computer generated “fly-through” showing how a variety of cardio and weight equipment will be situated within the facility.  The Council also approved the purchase of indoor playground equipment.
