Joseph Ibarra, Sr.

Joseph Alvaro Ibarra, Sr., of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa. A funeral service will held at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, 2016, at Clear Lake Christian Church, 302 Highway 18 W., Clear Lake, with Pastor Drew Rietjens officiating. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Joseph was born the son of Francisco and Esperanza (Munoz) Ibarra in Allende, Coahuila, Mexico.

New Clear Lake superintendent is on the job

It’s not just back-to-school time for students.  New Clear Lake Schools Superintendent Doug Gee has been meeting with his administrative team, school board, directors, education association and community leadership since starting the job July 1.

To ready for the school year, Gee has taken a bit of a crash course in getting to know his staff and the Clear Lake community.

DNR enlists help of goats to clear invasive plants at Outdoor Classroom

Family escapes injury in early morning house fire

A Clear Lake family safely evacuated their burning home early Saturday morning.

The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to 1310 Buddy Holly Place for a reported house fire Saturday, Aug. 6, at approximately 1:09 a.m. The CLFD responded with three engine companies, one ambulance and 16 firefighters.
