Four Lions earn All-North Central Conference honors

Clear Lake junior Thomas Storbeck was named to the First Team All-North Central Conference and three other Lions were honored by conference coaches.  Senior Zach Tatum was a Second Team All-NCC choice, while senior Parker Truesdell and sophomore Zach Lester were Third Team selections.

Snelling earns IGCA All-State recognition

The Iowa Girls Coaches Association  (IGCA) has released its 2016 All-State Basketball teams and Clear Lake’s Emily Snelling has been honored.

The Clear Lake junior was a Class 3A Second Team selection.

GHV players named to Top of Iowa All-Conference lists

After a successful season with a record of 21-5 and a trip to the Substate finals, it is no wonder the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys are well represented on the All-Conference teams for the the Top of Iowa Conference.

Senior Sam Cataldo was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection.  Also making the First Team was junior Jonathan O’Connor.  Freshman James Betz was named to the Second Team and Payton James, a senior, earned Honorable Mention recognition.

(Above) In 1966, after a few warm days, the ice was declared out on March 16 and a few Clear Lakers wasted no time in taking to the water. Mike Cookman waterskied in a wet suit. Mother Nature had different plans.  A week later, eight inches of heavy, wet snow was dumped on the area, bringing everything to a virtual standstill.  The heavy white stuff also brought down power lines and tree limbs.

Janice (Jan) Taylor, 80, of Kensett, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Kensett, with Pastor Tom Martin officiating, with burial afterwards at the Kensett Cemetery.
