Plans unveiled for pet shelter in Clear Lake

A Clear Lake couple has announced plans for “Patriots for Pets Rescue and Shelter,” a 501©(3) non-profit corporation to be built.

Debbie and Chuck Kern, owners of The Animal House in Clear Lake, have begun clearing land south of their boarding facility on North 40th Street to construct a no-kill animal rescue and shelter building. The new 6,000 square foot building will house approximately 75 homeless dogs and cats with quarantine 

units.

Rare storm drops up to 10-inches on area

Thursday, May 2, turned out to be one of those days your kids will tell their kids about.  That’s when Clear Lakers woke up to find eight to 10 inches of snow on the ground. Forest City and Britt picked up 11 inches

The Clear Lake School Board voted to sign an agreement with U.S. Energy Services, Inc., in an effort to save an estimated $6,000 yearly in energy costs.

911 calls to be re-routed for short time

 

On Thursday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. Clear Lake City Hall will be without power while a new generator is put on line. It is expected that the cutover will take less than an hour.

Pay attention: Three-way stop placed at North Shore intersection

A three-way stop sign is expected to be in place today (Wednesday, Dec. 19) at the intersection of North Shore Drive and Buddy Holly Place.  

The Clear Lake City Council approved an ordinance allowing the three-way stop at its meeting Monday.  Enforcement of the traffic sign will begin immediately after placement.  

City continues to shine fiscally in hard economic times

The City of Clear Lake continues to be a shining example of fiscal strength.

City Administrator Scott Flory gave the City Council an overview of the Annual Financial report he will submit to the Iowa Department of Management and State Auditor’s Office, as required by law.  Flory pointed out the Iowa Constitution limits the amount of General Obligation debt a City may incur to no more than 5 percent of its 100 percent valuation. 

CLEAR Project coordinator will step down
