A group of state, federal and local law enforcement agencies will partner to focus enforcement of Iowa’s boating while intoxicated law as part of the June 28-30 national Operation Dry Water campaign to draw public attention to the hazards of boating under the influence.

Finally, some good news about the lake!

Officials at the city’s Water Treatment Plant declared “ice out” on Clear Lake Sunday, April 14.  And with the ice out comes the first reading of the lake level.

When you say the words ‘Clear Lake’ to MaryJo Burkgren, a smile immediately comes to her face.  She is quick to recall fishing with her parents at the reefs and the Island, gazing at shorelines dotted with cabins, weekly drives around the lake 

Winter Dance Party heats up the Surf

 

Clear Lake welcomed thousands last week and reveled in the celebration of rock and roll, courtesy of the Surf Ballroom’s Winter Dance Party.

The well-attended event included a fun family sock hop Wednesday, which set the stage for three nights of concerts.  

 

Land adjoining Central Gardens of North Iowa sold

 

A Mason City developer has purchased the lot located immediately north of Central Gardens of North Iowa for $200,000.

The one-plus acre parcel was placed on the market in March 2012 at an asking price of $335,000.  

Donna Eckard, of Lake Iowa Realty, confirmed that the owners of the property, Burns & Burns Architects, of Iowa City, sold the property just before year-end.  Documents filed at the Cerro Gordo County Courthouse identify the buyer as BD Development LC, with Craig B. Skott and Ronald R.
