Gerhardt and Loge compete in Class 1A State Tennis Tourney

The doubles team of Jaxson Gerhardt and Ben Loge, who advanced to the Class 1A State Tennis Tournament as runner-up in their District, suffered back-to-back losses and were eliminated from Tuesday’s competition at Byrnes Park in Waterloo with an 0-2 record.

Clear Lake opened the softball season Monday, May 23, at home against West Fork.  Unfortunately the start was a little bumpy and the visitor tamed the Lions, 9-2.

Clear Lake used one run in the second and two more in the third and then held on through a late rally for a 3-1 win over West Fork Monday, May 23.  Its was the home opener for the Lions, who evened their record at 1-1.

Boys soccer team falls in Sub-State Semi-Finals

North Fayette Valley, ranked second in the state (1A), escaped with a 2-1 victory in Sub-State semi-finals played Monday, May 23, in Elgin.

“It was a tough matchup against the number one team in our bracket and number two team in the state,” said Clear Lake Coach Zach Hall.  “We looked to come out strong and aggressive trying to neutralize their key players.”

Bunn to compete in Special Olympics Games

The Bunn family, from Clear Lake, will be proudly cheering on 16-year-old Adrienne Bunn next week as she competes in the Special Olympics USA Games as a triathlete.  The event will be held in Orlando, Fla. June 5-12.

Adrienne, the daughter of Bob and June Bunn, formerly of Clear Lake and now residents of Ocala, Fla., is the first woman on the autistic spectrum to compete in the triathlon at the Games.
