    Sandra L. Morse Gjerdahl, 65, of Quartzsite, Calif., formerly of Fertile, Iowa, died Sat. Jan. 28, 2012 in Paloverde Hospital, Blythe, Calif.    

        

Services are incomplete at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

Steven Elliot

    Steven Craig Elliot, 61, of 8509 230th Street, died Jan. 25, 2012 at his home.  Steve’s wishes were to be cremated and no services will take place.
    Should friends desire, memorials may be directed to the Steve Elliott Memorial in care of Jean Peterson.

Rev. David Gobeli

    The Rev. David Lee Gobeli, 63, of 381 Willow Brook Dr., Mason City, Iowa died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit of North Iowa, Mason City.  Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at Grace United Methodist Church, Mason City.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 -7 p.m. at the Hogan-

John Fountas

    John George Fountas passed away Jan. 10, 2012. He was 59 years old.
    John was born to George and Barbara Fountas in Mason City, Iowa on May 2, 1952.  He spent his childhood in Clear Lake and graduated from Newman High School.

Alan Oines

    Alan P. Oines, Opportunity Village, Clear Lake, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, Iowa.  A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 26 at Galilean Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Scot McCluskey officiating. A family inurnment will take place at a later date at High Cliff Park

Lions’ Kellogg wins NCC title

Clear Lake’s 182-pounder Logan Kellogg became a two-time North Central Conference champion at Saturday’s conference tournament.  Matt Bieber  (120) and Blake Kelso (126) were runner-ups in their respective weight classes.

Lions top Algona in NCC battle

In a game filled with a little bit of everything-- including a crowd-pleasing trick shot which happened by accident, the Lions evened their record in the North Central Conference with a 58-50 win over Algona Tuesday, Jan. 17.

CL girls win a nail biter

The Clear Lake girls handed Algona only their second North Central Conference loss in a 49-47 game played Tuesday, Jan. 17, on the Lions’ home court.  The Lions, now 8-5 overall and 8-3 in the league, sit just one game behind second place Algona

Ventura to hold Pack the Gym Night

Ventura is hoping to Pack the Gym on Friday night, Jan. 27.  Not only will the Ventura varsity girls and boy be taking the court, but some very special guests will also be in attendance.
