Trucker dies after semi crashes off I-35

    A Minnesota man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday on Interstate 35 south of Clear Lake.
    Dean Earl Elam, 73, Litchfield, Minn., was transported by Clear Lake Ambulance to Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, Mason City, where he died, according to the Iowa State Patrol.

Improvements planned for CL State Park

    The Iowa Department of Natural Resources Natural Resource Commission (NRC) has approved $166,128 worth of improvements for Clear Lake State Park. 
    The project, approved by the NRC at its Jan. 17 meeting, includes upgrading eight campsites to full hookup sites.  The improvements will provide sewer, water and electricity to campsites 95-101, as well as the host site at the campgrounds.

Police investigation yields charges after unreported New Year’s Day crash

    Clear Lake Police have charged a Garner man in connection with a rollover crash that went unreported in the early morning hours of New Years Day.

With the late onset of winter weather, officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday they will not be operating the aeration system for the remainder of the winter on Clear Lake.

Lions gain conference win

The Ventura girls had a successful week, collecting three wins.
Ventura 35, Lake Mills 24
    Ventura held a comfortable lead throughout most of the contest against Lake Mills at home Monday, Jan. 9.  The Lady Vikes topped the Bulldogs, 35-24, in the non-conference showdown.

CL girls pound Eagle Grove, 73-45

The Clear Lake girls came out focused and energized and pummeled Eagle Grove, 73-45, Friday, Jan. 13.  The win put the Lions back on track, after dropping their previous two games.  They are now 7-5 overall and currently sit in third place  in the North Central Conference with a 7-3 mark.
