Vikes prove a game is not over until it’s over

    The Ventura boys basketball team proved that a game isn’t over until it’s over.  They picked up two more Cornbelt Conference victories, moving their record to 3-1 in conference play.

Lions bounce back after string of losses

    The road was rough for the Lions last week, as they dropped a close contest to Algona Garrigan.  At home on Friday the team bounced back from three straight losses and posted a 75-54 win over Clarion-

Quality competition makes for a long week for CL wrestling squad

    The Clear Lake wrestling team endured a tough week against quality competition.  The Lions battled Class 3A power Mason City, conference rival Clarion-Goldfield and participated in the Iowa Falls-Alden Tournament.

Lady Vikes pick up two conference wins

    It was a good week for the Ventura Lady Vikes as they picked up two easy conference wins.

    The Ventura girls hosted Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ahyrshire in a conference showdown on Tuesday, Dec.13.  The Lady Vikes dominated the game from beginning to end for a solid 54-31 victory.

Win streak continues for CL girls team

The Clear Lake girls are on a roll.  After starting the season 0-2, the Lions are now 5-2.  The win streak went to five after topping Algona Garrigan and Clarion-Goldfield last week.

Councilmen finish service

    First Ward Council representative Shane Cooney and Third Ward Councilman Ben Furleigh completed service as Clear Lake City Council representatives Monday night, Dec. 18.  Clear Lake Mayor Nelson Crabb led a tribute to the men near the conclusion of the meeting.  The moment was a bit surreal, Crabb admitted.  Both Cooney and

Lake school district and teachers begin contract talks

Seven opt for early retirement

 

    The Clear Lake School Board and district educators exchanged contract proposals Monday.  The Board is offering no increase in teacher salaries for the 2012-2013 school year, while the Clear Lake Education Association is seeking a 5.5 percent raise in the generator salary base.
