Seth A. Froiland, 20, left us too soon on March 31, 2022.

Funeral services to celebrate his life were held on Tuesday, April 5, at Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake, with Pastor Chris McComic officiating. He was laid to rest at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 4, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake.

Memorials may be directed to the family or a suicide prevention organization of your choice.

Verna L. Aastrup

Verna L. Aastrup, 98, of Mason City, entered the gates of heaven on March 24, 2022, just six hours short of her 99th birthday. 

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City.  Inurnment will be held in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery.

DeVries and Enke to transfer to Concordia- St. Paul

Former Clear Lake High School student-athletes Jaylen DeVries and Drew Enke have announced they will be transferring to Concordia-St. Paul to continue their collegiate football careers.

DeVries announced in February he intended to leave the football program at Southern Illinois, noting he wanted to contribute to a program as a quarterback. The 2020 CLHS graduate did not see action during the 2020 COVID season and was redshirted as a tight end during the Saluki’s 2021 season.  

DeVries and Enke to transfer to Concordia- St. Paul

Reiman dominates at Earlham Meet

The Clear Lake boys track team had some success when they traveled to Earlham on Tuesday, March 29.

Tanner Reiman brought home two first place finishes.  One in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.99 and another in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.85.

Shuttle hurdle relay wins at Earlham meet

The Clear Lake girls track team headed to Earlham High School for an early bird meet on Tuesday, March 29.

The shuttle hurdle relay was the top placing event for the Lions.  The team, consisting of Mariposa Coleman, Payton McGrath, Josie Lester and Grace Meyer, placed first with a time of 1:17.62.
