Harriet J. DeBolt

Harriet J. DeBolt, age 95, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and formerly of Waterloo, Iowa, died Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home.  

She was born on April 9, 1926, in Round Lake, Minn., the daughter of Harry and Jennie Slocum-Garms. She graduated from Mason City High School in 1944.

(Above) Petersen’s Bathhouse, circa 1900 - Toboggan slide at Petersen’s Bathhouse, circa 1900.  This was the first bathhouse constructed by George Petersen, a Danish immigrant – carpenter and contractor.  The 20 x 30 ft. bathhouse included 35 conveniently arranged dressing rooms.

Track team wins NCC Meet; first time since 1984

Garner Meet

Winning meets never gets old and the Clear Lake boys track team is learning that first hand as they captured their fifth team championship Monday night, May 3, at the Don Hoppel Co-Ed Relays in Garner.  The Lions scored 148 points to win the meet.  Forest City was second with 103 points and Belmond Klemme was third with 81.5 points.

The Lions played their last home game of the season Monday, May 3, against Hudson.  It was Senior Night for Noah Petersen and Sam Nelson.

The game started out well, with good ball movement up the field, but only a few quality shots on goal.

Clear Lake girls earn pair of victories

(Above) The Clear Lake girls soccer team had an exciting week, going 2-1 in matches.  The Lions edged Humboldt and split matches in Saturday’s Garner Tournament.

The Lions played Humboldt Thursday night and came away with a 1-0 victory
