County health experts concerned about COVID spread

Cerro Gordo health experts pleaded with the public to be conscientious about the spread of COVID-19 at a joint press conference between MercyOne and Cerro Gordo Public Health on Monday, Nov. 9.

Dr. Paul Manternach, Chief Medical Officer at MercyOne, and Brian Hanft, the county’s Director of Public Health, spoke on Monday about the rapid spread of the disease and the impact it is having on the area’s healthcare system.

Clear Lake voters largely supported Republican candidates in Tuesday’s General Election.  In addition to contributing to President Donald Trump’s victory in the state, local voters favored G.O.P. candidates in U.S. House and Senate races, as well as Iowa House District 54.

Changes made in Veteran’s Day program plans

A change has been announced in the Veteran’s Day program planned Friday at Clear Lake High School.

The public, including veterans, will now NOT be allowed inside the school building and E.B. Stillman Auditorium, and will not take part in the flag raising outside at 9:30 a.m.

The program will be aired live from the school district’s Facebook page and through the Clear Lake Telephone Company’s cable programming.
