Reuben Franklin “Frankie” Gottfried, Jr., 60, of Clear Lake, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Executive Cottage, at One Vision, in Clear Lake, surrounded by his friends and family. 

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at One Vision, Clear Lake, with Pastor Scott Sokol and Dennis Ganz officiating . lnurnment will be be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2021, at Riverside Cemetery, in Marshalltown, Iowa.

The Lions improved their record to 8-1 with victories over a pair of rivals last week.  On Friday, Clear Lake hosted Webster City, from the North Central Conference.  Saturday, they stepped out of the league to match up against Forest City.

Lion grapplers fall to Humboldt

Lion wrestlers ran into a buzz saw Thursday night in Humboldt.  The Wildcats won 10 of 11 contested matches and earned points for three forfeits.  They won, 72-6.

“We just looked very rusty and out of our element and lost position in a couple of scramble situations,” commented Coach Evan Johnson.

City negotiates purchase of county shed for new park

The City of Clear Lake will purchase the former Cerro Gordo County shed at 109 S. 15th St., for $250,000.

The City Council approved the land acquisition Monday night, setting the stage for expansion of the Aquatic Center and creation of the Everybody Plays Playground.
