Havens named new CLHS cross country coach

Tyler Havens has been named as the new head head cross country coach at Clear Lake High School this fall.  He succeeds Nick DiMarco, who stepped down after many years with the cross country program.

Revised schedule released for upcoming football season

To better prepare for the 2020 varsity football season, the Iowa High School Athletic Association released a revised schedule plan Friday which allows for member school adjustments due to COVID-19.  The revised plan considers flexibility for school return concerns, geography, postseason qualifying, transportation, and possible COVID-19 cases as rationale for changing previously announced varsity football schedules.

Dr. Steven C. Erickson

Dr. Steven Craig Erickson, 64, of Hamptonville, N.C., passed away Thursday, July 16, 2020.

A funeral service was conducted on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Gentry Family Chapel, in Jonesville, N.C.  Burial was at Dennyville Baptist Church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to “The Steven C. Erickson and Krista M. Srodes Endowed Scholarship in Design and Theatre Technology” endowment fund - Saginaw Valley State University, 7400 Bay Road, University Center, MI 48710.

Six Lions receive post-season honors

Six members of the Clear Lake Lions (9-8) baseball team have been tagged for post-season honors.  Leading the way was senior Erik McHenry, who was named as a First Team All-North Central Conference infielder as well as Second Team All-3A Central District as a shortstop.
