Humboldt edged the Clear Lake boys and won in two overtimes Monday night, April 15, 3-2.

The golf season is in full swing for the Clear Lake boys.  Last week the Lions were on the course at two tournaments and hosted a triangular with North Central Conference teams.

GHV Cardinals shut-out Webster City, 10-0

Rainy weather didn’t damper the spirits of the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls soccer team, as they blanked Webster City on Tuesday, April 9.  The Cardinals posted a 10-0 shut-out against the Lynx.

“It was another game to have opportunity for experimenting and everyone played very well,” said Coach Hanna DeVries.

Chloe Johnson led the way with 10 shots, four shots on goal and five goals. She also had one assist and one corner kick.

Bulldog Relays

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys picked up a couple of first place finishes to collect some points, but it wasn’t enough, as the Cardinals placed fifth in an eight team field at the Bulldog Relays held in Hampton on Monday, April 15.  Roland-Story won the meet with 165 points, followed by Aplington-Parkersburg with 124.  GHV finished with 60 points.

Lions fall to Mohawks, 1-0, in girls soccer showdown

The lions traveled just a few miles Thursday night, April 18, to square off against the Mason City Mohawks.  It was a defensive battle, with the Mohawks controlling most of the game.
