Clear Lake won its first home match in five years with a 3-1 victory over Hampton-Dumont Tuesday, Sept. 18.

Clear Lake won its first home match in five years with a 3-1 victory over Hampton-Dumont Tuesday, Sept. 18.

CL X-C team has strong outing at Humboldt

Clear Lake runners continue to make strides this season and at Humboldt Monday night the Lions had their best outing yet.

“We took a giant step forward as we look forward to the conference meet in two weeks,” said Coach Nick DiMarco.  “This is the most difficult and largest field the team has conquered this year. Though a challenge, this was the best meet for both boys and girls so far this year.”

It was a high-scoring affair on Friday night when the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura (1-4) football team traveled to Algona (5-0) to take on the Bulldogs.  Offense was the name of the game on both sides of the ball, but it was the Bulldogs that amassed the most TDs in a 66-38 scoring bonanza.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team picked up a win against Eagle Grove, but had a tough time at the Bishop Garrigan Tournament, where they went 1-4 on the day.
